First Carlist War, (1833-1840): Anti-clerical riots of 1835, (1845). Attempted robbery of the Customs House, Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. After the anticlerical riots, the bullangas and the assassination of General Bassa in 1835, the city of Barcelona seized a state of anarchy. Revolts against the religious orders that took place as a result of their support for the Carlist side. The authorities sent militias and soldiers to quell the riots and acts of pillage.
