The first fire in Toogoolawah in 1926, occurred on 26 April. Within the space of one and a half hours, half the main portion of the business block was destroyed. In order to create a break in the fire, volunteers tore down the building occupied by Mr. D. A. Menzies, a carpenter and plumber and the Primary Producers Bank.
