Jack would have been twenty years old in this image. Johns' Cafe was owned by Mr J.J. Johns. The cafe had 'stood for many years' before cyclonic weather in January 1929 endangered its sandy foundations. As a result the building was dismantled and moved to safety by 'over a hundred willing helpers work[ing] feverishly all day'.
