Small Altar-Annunciation (Obverse), Saints Lawrence and Stephen (Reverse), between 1310-1320. The double-sided painting with the scene of the Annunciation and the representation of the first Christian martyrs, Saints Lawrence and Stephen on the reverse, was probably created at the beginning of the stay of the Master of the Codex of St. George in Avignon. Elements of Florentine art are also evident in it, such as the attempt to spatially depict the Gothic throne in the Annunciation and the depiction of the Archangel Gabriel in a kneeling position. On the other hand, the elegance and slenderness of the figures and the subtle colors are already influenced by international Gothic and Sienese art. The painting was probably a wing of a diptych or triptych painted like most of the artist's works for the artist's protector, Bishop Jacopo Stefaneschi.
