Adoration of the Crucifix from the Norbertine Church in Witów, 1622. The depicted scene takes place in an undefined interior. In the middle of it, there is a cross with the body of the Saviour hanging on it. Kneeling men are gathered around the cross in four tight groups, head by head, concentrated in the four corners of the scene. We recognise King Sigismund III among the people kneeling behind the crucifix and facing the viewer. It is an updating procedure typical of Baroque painting, used by many artists of that time, which means introducing non-saint figures from the current life and in contemporary clothing into religious images.
