Embroidered picture-Blessed Isabelle of France, 1814. An embroidered picture shows Blessed Isabelle, a French princess. The saint is depicted from the knees up in a standing posture. Her face is engulfed in blond tresses, she is wearing a diadem on her head and an earring in the shape of an inverted drop. She has a yellow dress on with a pattern of delicate twigs and a round neckline decorated with a small bow, as well as a blue mantle with a reddish lining fastened at the shoulders with two brooches. She holds a silver sceptre in her right hand. Blessed Isabelle (1224-1270) was the daughter of Louis VIII, the king of France, and the sister of Louis IX, his successor. The picture was meticulously embroidered on a hoop, using silk yarn.
