Adoration of the Shepherds, between 1730-1745. Additional Info: Sharp, bright and preternatural light, with which the artist probably wanted to emphasise the miraculous character of the event, penetrates an entrance to a grotto, in which the Holy Family is represented. Shepherds are entering the grotto to make an obeisance to the newborn Christ. Some shepherds, with their offerings, are surrounding the Holy Family one of them has just taken off a large basket from a donkey's back, and a small boy on the right is holding the animal. Other shepherds can be seen at the entrance to the grotto. The Virgin Mary, sitting on the left under the rocks, is holding the Child Jesus, who in turn in beaming with preternatural light. and the accurate and agile execution of the details.
