Crocuses and Marsh-Marigolds, July 23, 1907. Despite the summer date, the work presents the Tatras in early spring, typical of the temperate, transitional period at the juncture between winter and spring. This close and relatively tightly-cropped composition reveals a mountain meadow covered with densely growing crocuses and marigolds. This irregularly shaped carpet of flowers is paired with the coniferous trees growing on the mountain slope and sunk into the snow.
