Notes made by Florence Nightingale, 1873. Notes on a group of probationary nurses at the nursing school at St Thomas's Hospital in London. She records that Nurse Bather (or Barker) was 'ill tempered', Nurse Evans 'conceited untrustworthy flirting - sat up with S. [?] night after night' and Nurse Upton 'not thorough or trustworthy'. Nurse Robinson was 'best' but Nurse Berryman was 'lazy - wd not give the children the bedpans. Untruthful - mischievous'. The school for nurses based on Florence Nightingale's principles was established at St Thomas's in 1860 using money from a fund established in recognition of her services in the Crimea.
