Transcript of notes to the Domesday Book, 12th century. Later transcript of the 'Inquest of the Country of Cambridge', notes compiled in the course of the famous survey of England made in 1086. The findings of this elaborate survey made at the command of William the Conqueror are summarised in the Domesday Book. The Cambridge Inquest was based on notes taken during the hearings of the commissioners who made the survey and contains information omitted from the Domesday Book.
