Letter to James Beaumont Strachey from Virginia Woolf, inviting him to dine with her, c1915-c1924. 'Hogarth House, Paradise Road, Richmond. Nov 25th. Dear James, Can you come & dine here next Friday, the 3rd, at 7.30? If you can, wont you stay the night - we have a spare room. I don't know how to explain the position of this house, though its very near the station. On leaving the station, turn to your left up the hill, & you will come to a passage on the left between shops called Church Passage. This brings you to a church. Take the [?] road on the left of the church, & you come out in Paradise Road. Turn to your left, & you will find us a few yards further on. A brass plate is attached to our railing. It is about 5 minutes walk, but people do miss us in the dark. I hope you may be able to come. Yr V.W.' Psychoanalyst James Strachey was the younger brother of Lytton Strachey, a member of the Bloomsbury Group, to which British novelist Virginia Woolf and her husband Leonard also belonged.
