Jane Seymour's signature; 'Jane the Quene', c1536. Jane Seymour, the third wife of King Henry VIII, was queen for less than two years. She died of puerperal fever, twelve days after giving birth to Henry's longed-for son, who later became Edward VI. He died as a teenager, the last in the male line of the House of Tudor.
