Procession to Ibu, 1840. West African expedition. A canoe appears to have sunk - men are seen in the water. Europeans sit under the white umbrella in the centre, with a union jack and a drummer in the prow. From "Picturesque Views on the River Niger, sketched during Lander's Last Visit in 1832-33" by Captain William Allen, R.N. and John Lander.
