Third Crusade of Pastoureaux, c1375-c1400. Depiction of Pastoureaux killing 500 Jews at Verdun-sur-Garonne in 1320. The term 'pastoreaux' refers to shepherds. A fire burns at the base of a tower, from which a child is apparently thrown by soldiers. Below is a band of men wielding clubs. The Shepherds' Crusade of 1320 resulted in the murders of hundreds of Jews in France and Aragon. From "Chroniques de France ou de St. Denis".
