Joseph and the Pharaoh, c1300-c1330. In the top left Joseph is interpreting the pharoah's dream. In the top right the pharoah is dreaming of the fat and thin cattle. Joseph interprets this dream to mean that there would be seven years of good harvest followed by seven years of famine. During the seven years of good harvest the Egyptians store food for the famine years, and therefore survive, unlike their neighbours. In the bottom left corner is Joseph with his brothers. At bottom right a man orders a second man to be bound and led away. From the Golden Haggadah, a Hebrew service book read on Passover Eve. Northern Spain.
