The Royal Font, 1850. 'This interesting Font...consists of a triangular base and plinth of bold design, on either side of which are the Royal arms. On the top of the plinth, at the base of a shaft of foliage-work, are seated three figures of children playing the lyre. The shaft carries a bowl of peculiarly graceful outline, the rim of which has water-lilies round it beautifully modelled; a single water-lily is in the bowl, producing a charming effect'. The silver-gilt Lily Font was commissioned by Queen Victoria from the silversmiths Edward Barnard and Sons. It is used at the baptismal services of members of the British royal family. From "Illustrated London News", 1850.
