Theodor Körner, (1936). German poet and soldier Carl Theodor Körner (1791-1813) joined the Lützow Free Corps in the German uprising against Napoleon. Körner composed patriotic poetry to encourage his comrades, among these being the "Schwertlied" (Sword Song), written only a few hours before he was killed in battle aged 21.
