'George Clifford, Earl of Cumberland', c1590, (1906). Portrait of English naval commander George Clifford, 3rd Earl of Cumberland (1558-1605). Clifford was a courtier of Queen Elizabeth I, a gambler, privateer and founding member of the East India Company.
