'Feeding Rota, The "Pinner Lion"', 1940s, (1945). British Prime Minister Winston Churchill feeding a lion at London Zoo. The lion, called Rota, had been kept in a back garden in Pinner, Middlesex, and was presented to Churchill by its owner. Churchill later donated Rota to the Zoological Gardens. British politician and statesman Sir Winston Churchill was Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1940 to 1945, and again from 1951 to 1955.
