'An Invitation Card by Hogarth', (1881). Card with drawing of a plate, knife and fork by William Hogarth (1697-1764), inviting a friend to dinner: 'Mr Hogarth's compliments to Mr King and desires the honner of his company at dinner on thursday next to Eta Beta PY'. (This last part is a pun, using Greek letters, meaning 'eat a bit of pie'). From Old and New London: A Narrative of Its History, Its People, and Its Places. Westminster and the Western Suburbs, by Edward Walford, Vol. III. [Cassell, Petter, Galpin & Co., London, Paris & New York, 1881]
