Church of the Saviour on Blood, St Petersburg, Russia, 2011. Detail. Also known as the Church on Spilt Blood and the Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ, this church was built on the spot where Tsar Alexander II was assassinated in 1881. Construction began in 1883 but the church was not completed until 1907.
