The Basilica de San Vicente, Avila, Spain, 2007. An arched window with decorative elements. Erected between the 11th and 14th centuries, this church preserves the west porch in impeccable Romanesque design, giving way to a building brimming with the style. The church stands where San Vicente and his sisters Sabina and Cristeta are believed to have been martyred in AD 303. A crypt in the basilica is dedicated to the Virgen de la Soterraña ('The Subterranean Virgin'). Avila was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1985.
