Tower Bridge, Stepney, London, 1877. Two images: at the top; To accompany Mr Palmer's pamphlet on the Thames floods, the Tower Bridge & to illustrate the tourists table. A map of the Thames from source to sea. Beneath; Palmer's bridge with shore basins, as seen from the summit of Tower. In 1876 a competition was held to design a new crossing over the Thames below London Bridge. This was one of the more than 50 designs submitted. In the event, Sir Horace Jones's Tower Bridge was the design chosen.
