A triptych of the healing work of St Remy, Bishop of Reims, 11th century (1870). The first compartment represents St Remy healing a paralytic; the second, St Remy healing a sick man by invocation of the sacrament on the alter; and third, St Remy, assisted by a bisop, baptising King Clovis in the presence of Queen Clotilda, and receiving from the Holy Spirit the sacred ampulla. A 19th century version of an original 11th century ivory carving. From The Arts of the Middle Ages and at the Period of the Renaissance, by Paul LaCroix (London, 1870).
