Emmeline (left), with her daughters Christabel (centre), and Sylvia Pankhurst, (right), Waterloo Station, London, 4th October 1911. Emmeline was setting off for a lecture tour of the United States and Canada. Between 1869 and 1911 women in Wyoming (1869); Colorado (1893); Utah and Idaho (1896); and Washington and California had been enfranchised. Within two years of this visit Oregon, Kansas, Arizona and Alaska would give their women the vote.
