St Agnes and St Catherine of Alexandria. Agnes (right), patron saint of virgins, martyred c304, is shown with her emblem, a lamb. Catherine of Alexandria, wearing a coronet representing royal descent, holds a sword and spiked wheel, instruments of her martyrdom in 307. The figure at bottom left is Emperor Maximinus who ordered Catherine's execution.
