'Yumas', c1850s. 'Figure to the Left, Portrait of Leoch'. Yuma Indians of Arizona, drawn by Arthur Carl Victor Schott for The United States and Mexican Boundary Survey (1848-1855). Schott was a German-American topographical engineer, cartographer, botanist, ethnographer, artist and geologist and worked for the United States Boundary Commission as 'special scientific collector'.
