Visit of the Royal Party to the Cricket-Ground, at Castle Howard, 1850. Queen Victoria and Prince Albert watch a game of cricket as guests at Castle Howard in north Yorkshire. The royal party '...witnessed for some time the play of the Castle Howard Club. The Earl of Carlisle is particularly fond of this game; and the spot devoted to it in the park, being surrounded by an amphitheatre of noble trees, and ornamented by flags and tents, has a very pleasing appearance'. From "Illustrated London News", 1850.
