Title page of Elias Ashmole's Theatrum Chemicum Britannicum, 1652. Isaac Newton owned a copy of this book. Ashmole (1619-1692) was an English antiquary and alchemist and was one of the original Fellows of the Royal Society. (London, 1652). He donated his collection and library to Oxford University to found the Ashmolean Museum, the first public museum in Britain.
