At the Battle of Cape St Vincent, the British fleet under Admiral Sir John Jervis defeated the numerically superior Spanish. Commanding HMS 'Captain', Nelson distinguished himself in the battle, personally leading boarding parties that captured two Spanish ships, the 'San Josef' and the 'San Nicolas'.
