'The Monster broke loose or, a peep into the Shakespeare-Gallery', 1791. Alderman John Boydell, wearing a greedy expression, slashes with a large knife at the pictures in his gallery in Pall Mall; a suggestion was made by malicious persons, when some of the pictures were damaged, that Boydell had done it himself to excite public sympathy.
