The Hague, Netherlands, 1914. Soldiers from the Dutch army mobilising in Den Haag (The Hague), just 4 days after the start of the First World War. The photographer was on holiday in Holland at the outbreak of the First World War and this photograph was taken just 4 days later. The Netherlands remained neutral but in order to prevent invasion they mobilised their army on 1st August 1914, transporting soldiers to the borders of the country.
