Sketch by our Special Artist, Mr. Melton Prior'. On the left, draped in black fabric, is the 'Fountain Erected by Parishioners of Hawarden in Commemoration of Mr. Gladstone's Golden Wedding'. British Prime Minister William Eward Gladstone (born 1809) died on 19 May 1898, and was buried in Westminster Abbey on 26 May. His 'country seat' was Hawarden Castle near Hawarden in Flintshire, Wales. From "Illustrated London News", 1898.
