'The Battle of Valmy', 1792, (1890). Battle of Valmy on 20 September 1792. A major victory by the French army during the French Revolutionary Wars. Prussian troops under the Duke of Brunswick attempted to march on Paris. Generals Francois Kellermann and Charles Dumouriez stopped the advance at Valmy.
