[Group portrait of officers in the Union Army and a foreign military observer: Major Ludlow, Colonel Ulric Dahlgren (standing), Lieutenant-Colonel Dickson ('wearing a straw hat'), Count (Ferdinand von) Zeppelin and Lieutenant Rosencranz. Dickson and Zeppelin seem to be commenting on a copy of Sun Tzu's military text "The Art of War"]. Albumen print, pl. 45 from the album "Gardner's Photographic Sketch Book of the War, vol. 1" (1866).
