Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev in New York, USA, September 1960. Khrushchev (1894-1971) on the balcony of the Russian United Nations delegation headquarters. This was his second and final visit to the United States, on which he headed the Soviet delegation at the UN. During one debate in the General Assembly Khrushchev famously removed one of his shoes and banged it on the desk. From a private collection.
