Sir Francis Leopold McClintock, admiral, 1878. In 1879, McClintock was appointed Commander-in-Chief of the North America and West Indies Station (in command of the United Kingdom's Royal Navy stationed in North American waters). This was his last active service. In 1884 he was elected an elder brother of the Trinity House school.
