Sarah Churchill (née Jennings), Duchess of Marlborough (1660-1744), one of the most influential aristocratic women of her time through her close friendship with Queen Anne of Great Britain, 1912. The Duchess (1660-1744) was appointed lady of the bedchamber to Queen Anne and became a close confidante. After the death of her husband, John Churchill, 1st Duke of Marlborough, she oversaw the completion of Blenheim Palace. This portrait is after Sir Godfrey Kneller (1646-1723). Taken from R. J. Lea, Ltd's first series of Chairman Miniature cigarette cards, 1912.
