'PS Princess Elizabeth' c1927. Built in 1927 the paddle steamer 'PS Princess Elizabeth' originally had a short black and white funnel which was later replaced with a taller one. In pre-war years, she operated on ferry services from Southampton and Southsea to the Isle of Wight. In May 1940, she played a crucial part in Operation Dynamo. Accompanied by the flotilla of 'Little Ships' which sailed to Dunkirk to rescue the stranded soldiers, it saved 1673 Allied soldiers in 4 crossings.
