Portrait of Sarah Malcolm, 18th century. The portrait was taken of her whilst she was in Newgate Prison. She was hanged in 1732 for robbing and murdering three women. At the time it was a famous case. Hogarth visited her in prison in order to sketch her portrait. He had intended to sell prints of her before her execution.
