Oscar Wilde's death certificate, 1900. 'Préfecture du Département de la Seine' (Prefecture of the Seine Department), Paris. Irish playwright and author Oscar Wilde (1854-1900) was sent to prison for 'sodomy', and served two years of hard labour. He died in Paris three years after leaving prison.
