'Mead', (1673-1754), 1830. Richard Mead (1673-1754) English physician and Epidemiologist whose work led to an understanding of transmissible diseases. Admitted to the Royal Society in 1703, he attended Queen Anne on her deathbed, and in 1727 was appointed physician to George II. From "Biographical Illustrations", by Alfred Howard. [Thomas Tegg, R.
