Margarita of Burgundy confined at Chateau Gaillard, (19th century). Margaret of Burgundy (1290-1315) was Queen of France and Navarre and first wife of King Louis X of France. After poor treatment in prison, Queen Margaret caught a cold and died, although some sources state that she was strangled to death. (Colorised black and white print).
