Louis Maud'huy, French First World War General, (1926). Maud'huy (1857-1921) commanded the French 10th Army at the beginning of the war, but in 1916 was demoted and put in command of XV Corps. Prime Minister Georges Clemenceau sacked Maud'huy after the retreat in the face of the German Spring Offensive in 1918, but Marshal Foch appointed him Military Governor of Metz after the city's liberation in November 1918.
