Lord Heathfield. c1809. General Sir George Augustus Eliott, Lord Heathfield, was Governor of Gibraltar 1779-83 during which time he defended the colony from Spanish attack. He is shown here in full military uniform, holding a key, as a metaphor for the key to the island.
