Le Rajeunissement du Constitutionnel..., 1844. ...pour faire suite au rajeunissement d'Eson. J'ai lu dans Mr. de Chompré, qu'on avait jadis parfaitement rajeuni le vieil Eson, en le fesant mijoter dans une marmite avec une foule de petites épices, telles que racines de guimauve, lézard, bâtons de réglisse et crapauds.... mais on a perdu la recette bien exacte de cette pot-bouille.... j'ai bien imaginé de nouveaux ingrédiens..... par malheur, ils sont diablement chers!... je crois que j'aurais mieux fait de conserver mon vieux bonhomme tel quel..... en le fesant empailler par Mr. Gannal!.......(The rejuvenation of Le Constitutionnel [newspaper] based on Eson's old recipe. I have read in M. de Chompré that long ago old Eson had been perfectly rejuvenated, by letting him simmer in a pot with a multitude of little spices such as roots of marsh-mallow, lizards, sticks of liquorice and toads... but unfortunately the exact recipe of this mix is lost.... I thought about some new ingredients.... but they are terribly expensive... I think I would have been better off preserving the old fellow as he was..... by having him stuffed by M.
