Lacquered wood drinking vessel with bat on rim, China, 18th century. Qing dynasty natural wood root waterpot lacquered in the interior in black, orange and red. A bat in red lacquer decorates the rim. The base is inscribed 'For the elegant appreciation of Huantianyi' in black lacquer within a large rectangular red bordered cartouche. It is not known who Huantianyi was.
