John Pettie, artist and Royal Academician, 1882. Pettie (1839-1893) was born in Edinburgh and moved to London in 1862, two years after he first exhibited at the Royal Academy. He became a Royal Academician in 1873, and contributed works to the Academy's Summer Exhibition every year from 1862-1893.
