'James Northcote Esq. R.A. in his 82nd Year', c1828. Portrait of British painter James Northcote (1746-1831). Northcote was a pupil of Sir Joshua Reynolds, and attended the Royal Academy schools. He was elected to the Royal Academy in 1787, and also wrote various works including a biography of Reynolds.
