Henry Brougham, 1794. This miniature, which was painted in Edinburgh in 1794, depicts, Henry Brougham (pronounced 'Broom') of Brougham Hall in Westmorland. He married Eleanora, daughter of Reverend James Syme and the couple moved to Edinburgh. He was the father of Henry Peter Brougham, 1st Baron Brougham and Vaux (1778-1868) a British statesman who became Lord Chancellor of the United Kingdom.
